Early life & family

My name is Shafiq Ahmed Sobhani. I am from Pakundia, Kishoreganj, Bangladesh, and currently live in Chattogram. I have completed an MA in English Language and Literature from International Islamic University Chittagong and an MBA in Accounting from Bangladesh Open University.

I began my professional career in 2012 at Mamiya-OP Bangladesh Ltd. I later worked at the Center for Special Care and Research (CSCR) before joining Abul Khair Steel Melting Ltd. in November 2014. I currently work in engineering warehouse and inventory management, with more than 12 years of professional experience.

My key areas of expertise include inventory control, warehouse management, supply chain management, ERP systems, MIS reporting and advanced Microsoft Excel. I am passionate about data analysis, automation, web development and digital transformation.

I believe in continuous learning, honesty, teamwork and professional development. My goal is to use my knowledge and experience to improve operational efficiency, solve practical problems and contribute to organizational growth.

Inventory & Warehouse Management Professional with 12+ years of experience spanning manufacturing quality inspection, accounts and customer service, engineering store operations, inventory control, ERP transactions, MIS reporting and digital process improvement. Experienced in Oracle ERP, Advanced Microsoft Excel, inventory analytics, KPI dashboards, procurement monitoring, physical inventory, spare-parts management and warehouse optimization. Demonstrated ability to automate reports, improve transaction accuracy, streamline inventory monitoring and develop practical digital tools to support industrial operations.

I am one of seven brothers in the Sobhani family — a household where faith, learning and service to others were part of everyday life. Those values shaped a quiet conviction that has followed me into my work: do the small things carefully, and keep an honest record of them.

Education

Shafiq Ahmed Sobhani was born in a rural area of Pakundia, Kishoreganj, Bangladesh. His educational journey began at Pulerghat Ajharul Ulum Hussainiya Dakhil Madrasah. In 2003, he moved to Chattogram to continue his studies at Chittagong Darul Ulum Kamil Madrasah, staying with the support of his elder brother, Professor Dr. Farid A. Sobhani. After completing his MA in 2012, he began his professional journey.

His early professional experience began in manufacturing quality inspection at Mamiya-OP (Bangladesh) Ltd., followed by accounts and customer service at the Center for Special Care and Research (CSCR). In November 2014, he joined Abul Khair Steel Melting Ltd. and developed expertise in engineering store operations, warehouse management, inventory control, Oracle ERP, MIS reporting, Advanced Excel, KPI dashboards and digital automation.

My education spans three very different disciplines. I completed a Masters (Kamil) in Hadith at the Islamic University, an MA in English Language & Literature at the International Islamic University Chittagong (IIUC), and later an MBA in Accounting at Bangladesh Open University — studied alongside full-time work. A postgraduate diploma in Supply Chain Management and continuous training in Excel, Python and web development followed.

Career

My working life began in January 2012 at Mamiya-OP Bangladesh Ltd. as a finished-product quality inspection supervisor in the golf shaft section. I then moved to Center for Special Care and Research (CSCR), where as Cash & Customer Service Officer I learned accuracy with money, documentation and people. In November 2014 I joined Abul Khair Steel Melting Ltd., part of Abul Khair Group, as a Trainee Officer in the spare parts store — receiving materials, preparing GRNs and organising the store.

A year later I was promoted to Officer, Central Store (Spare), responsible for the whole warehouse lifecycle: receiving, storage, issue, reconciliation, physical audits and inventory closing. Over eight years my responsibilities grew from the Rolling store to the Melting, Oxygen (ASU) and Power (APS) plants.

2023 – Present — Leading with data. In April 2023 I was promoted to Senior Officer, Engineering Store (Spare). Today I lead ERP-based inventory governance, EOQ and reorder analysis, MIS and KPI reporting, intercompany material handling and the training of store employees — and since 2024 also the inventory of the new Rolling Mill 2.

Data, automation & teaching

Somewhere between the store floor and the spreadsheet I discovered that most daily problems could be automated. I have built Excel/VBA models, BI dashboards and small HTML, CSS and JavaScript tools — inventory analytics, location search, item-master search and phone directories — that save my colleagues hours every week. I also enjoy teaching: since 2018 I have delivered sessions on scrap management, 5S & Kaizen, store KPIs, warehouse layout, time management and safety. Just as important are the people I have learned from — senior colleagues and mentors who shaped how I work.

Looking ahead

My aim is to help build warehouses that are digital, safe and transparent — where every item has a code, a picture and a location, and every decision is backed by data.
